The Zurich Story
Pride & Protest
Queer History. Community. Everyday Life.

Zurich is home to one of Europe's most remarkable LGBTQ+ stories.
Long before equality became law, the city played a pioneering role in the international movement for gay and lesbian rights. Today, that history continues through its communities, cultural spaces and everyday life.
Together we'll explore the people, places and moments that helped shape queer Zurich—from hidden stories of the past to the vibrant city that exists today.

What makes this story different?
This isn't simply a walk through Zurich's queer venues.
It's a story about visibility, courage and social change.
We'll discover how Zurich became an international centre for early LGBTQ+ activism, how local communities created spaces where people could be themselves, and why the city continues to play an important role in queer life today.
Along the way we'll also talk about culture, politics and the everyday experiences that continue to shape modern Zurich.

You'll discover...

• Why has one café become an institution in Zurich’s queer community?
• How did Zurich quietly become one of Europe’s most LGBTQ+ friendly cities?
